Dental Implant

A perfect smile is the crown of the beauty. Providing self confidence, a better look, attracts people’s attention when speaking and gives an unforgettable impression about what you are, even without saying a word.

But sometimes you think that this is difficult because of some missing or broken teeth. And you think that if you replace them with traditional methods it will look unnatural. Besides it is uncomfortable to eat and speak because of the moving parts.

Well, getting your natural teeth back is no longer impossible with the new technologies in dentistry.

Dental implant in Turkey has become the most sure procedure to replace missing teeth. It involves screwing a metal implant into the jawbone then covering it with a porcelain crown. This procedure gives a natural feel and look to the teeth that function the same as your normal teeth. Which means you can smile, talk, eat and bite as if nothing was missing.

What is Dental Implant?

Dental implants are metal “screws” made of Titanium, which is a special material that can be introduced into the human body’s bone and fuse with the bone to become a part of it. This feature allows the implant to hold tightly like the original tooth root.

Titanium is very safe and inert and has been used for many years in the medical profession. Especially in orthopaedic surgery where they used it to screw or plate broken bones and fractures together. This makes titanium ideal to use as a tooth root that other parts can be attached to, like fixed in multiple teeth bridges or single crowns.

Dental Implant Procedure

During surgery, the oral surgeon makes a cut to open your gum and expose the bone. Then he will drill holes into the bone where he will place the dental metal implant deep into the bone. Since the metal implant will serve as the tooth root. Then a temporary denture will be placed into the gap for appearance until the bone recovers. Meanwhile, the implant fuses completely with the bone so the permanent denture or crown can be placed and this time for good.

Normally the time required for the implant to fuse perfectly is two to six months. That means that the patient has to come back after that time to get the crowns placed.

FAQ

Generally, a high quality implant is expected to last a lifetime. However, the crowns or the prosthesis placed on the implant should be checked regularly.
Technically, it can be done in one session (dental implant and crown placing). But this will create a pressure on the implant and affect the osseointegration process, which leads to a loose implant or a completely failed implant surgery.
Dental implant is a very safe procedure without any serious complications. However, you should expect pain and swelling for few days after the surgery, the surgeon will prescribe some painkiller.
